The Saigon Silicon Park JSC officially began construction of the Saigon Silicon City Center at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 9 on August 30.

The Saigon Silicon City Center is a component of the Saigon Silicon City Construction and Development project (Saigon Silicon City) at SHTP. The project is being built based on the US’s Silicon Valley Technology Center.

It will be a research and development center within Saigon Silicon City, on an area of 4.2 ha with modern infrastructure and total investment capital of around $22 million.

“We are honored to bring the high-tech development found in Silicon Valley to SHTP,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Hieu, Chairman of the Saigon Silicon Park JSC. “With SHTP’s favorable location, Saigon Silicon City will be developed under the smart urban model and be ready to welcome high-tech businesses, hi-tech support industries from overseas Vietnamese, and international consortiums, together with research, innovation and technology transfer activities, and create a friendly investment environment based on Silicon Valley.”

Mr. Le Thanh Liem, a Member of the Ho Chi Minh City Standing Party Committee and Deputy Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, said that “the Saigon Silicon City Center is a very important project in promoting the development of high-tech in the city and in encouraging overseas Vietnamese to invest and contribute to national development and the development of Ho Chi Minh City.”

Saigon Silicon City is being developed by the Saigon Silicon Park JSC on an area of 52 ha, with total investment of about $40 million and total investment capital when fully occupied reaching $1.5 billion.
